Family visit in Berlin.
Last summer, for the first time I had my parents over for a visit to Berlin. My kid came along to spend the week together, a full house atmosphere so to speak. Not easy as you might imagine, with lots of tensions and discussions, with crises, fears and conflicts to soften. Literally touchy reactions.
But I should really be grateful for my parents. They tried to be very helpful and mediate some conflicts but somehow they came to a point of loosing their patience as well.
I should also be grateful for my partner, who showed lots of patience and understanding, who took us out to beautiful places and who was fortunately working most of the time.
And most of all, I should be grateful for my sun, who tests my limits continuosly and teaches me unconditional love.
Nevertheless, I never seize to be amazed by the power a kid has to turn the life of adults around him upside down. When you look at him, he is a like a sweet handsome 11 year old boy, but if you happen to be in his arm’s lengths space, your mood is most likely to be twisted.
After a full week of fulfilling touristic duties, mom’s duties as well as daughter’s and wife’s duties, I got sick and I had to stay in bed with some sort of a somatised flu as an effect of “too much family allergy”. I was not able to do anything useful, not even to make a plan for this new chapter in my life.
But I took it as a need to pause, as a moment of reflection and acceptance, confident enough and open to the interesting days to come.
Looking forward to it, take care!
