Why move to the countryside?
Many years ago, we wanted to find a house in the countryside to get away from the big city’s turmoil. We looked for a specific place in a special region with childhood memories, fresh air and nature bonding.
And we found it. We knew exactly which one was meant to be, after visiting many places and talking to many people.
So, we started renovating it, putting in a lot of time, hard work and of course love. And soon, the old rundown house turned into something nice and authentic, with kitchen and bath, with running hot water and cosy heat coming from burning wood in the oven, with comfortable beds to host the family and friends.
I was a really good mix between old and new, vintage and modern, traditions and new wave. In the end, we managed to keep a bit of its ancient style and add a drop of our own avantgarde spirit.
But most importantly, we soon started to feel the positive energy of this place, to breathe in the fresh air from the nearby mountains, to walk the grass in the big garden with bare feet, to connect with nature, to harvest and eat our own apples, raspberries and walnuts.
It was also nice to meet friendly neighbours willing to give a hand, offer you vegetables from their own garden or guide you to other neighbours who can give you some fresh milk and cheese from their own cattle.
It was like everything tasted and smelled different there: the apples were sweeter, the tomatoes had better flavour, the walnuts were crunchier, while milk and cheese were fatter and much more delicious.
Not to mention the fresh air coming from the mountains, the hikes from this beautiful region and the stars from the sky which seemed darker and brighter at the same time at night.
From such a place you can actually see the stars at night because of less artificial electricity around. And this will make your sleep better, your dreams nicer and your days brighter.
Too good to be true, right?
Unfortunately, this euphoric state did not last very long because like many other important things in life, we are not fully aware of them until we don’t have them anymore.
So, after a few years of trying to find our way back home, we had to make the tough decision of giving this beautiful place up. Despite its positive vibration and good memories, despite the good people connected to it, life signalled us we had to move apart and away from this mirific place.
Today, after we’ve all been through a tough pandemic which reshaped our life and changed our priorities, at least for some of us, I realise even more how much such a retreat can mean for someone. But this time, not for us.
Imagine you have a place to withdraw and recharge, where you can work remote and in peace (with the right Internet ;), where you can soak up the sun and let the wind blow your hair, where you can enjoy unforgettable sunsets each evening, feel the grass tickling your toes, insects buzzing your ears and composing their own symphony of senses.
I am sure that this will be a tough competition to Netflix sooner than you can imagine.
So, what do you think? Are you ready to take this leap of faith and move your life more towards nature?
This could be one good option for you…maybe a real option towards yourself. And I’m sure that you will find another vibe, air, wind and sunset there, adjusted to your own authentic needs.
You just need to look around, see it and take care of it.
